Margherita Anyone?

Not that kind of margarita sillies! Smile with tongue out Though if I had the stuff to make one, I’d be all over that. It could be a margarita theme night! (making a mental note for the future – MUST do this!)

Today I had my margarita in pizza form. Margherita Pizza to be exact! (Little history lesson – apparently there was a Queen Marghertia in Italy and somebody made a pizza for her to look like the Italian flag and then named it after her! The more you knowNerd smile)  I have been craving it for like two weeks now, and it wasn’t going to go away anytime soon so I decided I had to make it!

The best part is, I made it completely from scratch! Well, the breadmaker did all the hard work, but I did the rest.

Into the breadmaker went:

IMG_2216

1 1/3 cups of water (80-90 degrees F – I just ran my hot water tap for a while)
1/4 cup olive oil
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 cups bread flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
2 tsp. bread machine yeast

** It is super important that you put them in the breadmaker in order! And make a little well in the flour to pour your yeast in **

Then you just pick the dough setting on your machine and let it do its thing!

After that you place the dough on a lightly floured surface and put a big mixing bowl on top for 10 min. so it can rise a little more. Divide it in half and roll one half out to desired size and put the other half in a bowl and keep covered. Top with sauce and favourite toppings and voila!

For margherita pizza, all you need is sliced mozzarella and basil. So simple and so yummy!

A few lessons learnt today – 1. I suck at rolling out circles. 2. You could actually see sauce before the cheese melted, I forgot it would melt and expand so I maybe overdid the cheese. 3. I also forgot that the basil would shrivel a bit and the big pretty leaves that covered the pizza aren’t so pretty anymore.

Oh well! It still tasted delish!

And on another foodie note – look what I finally found at Superstore today!

IMG_2213

I may have bought four.. so yummy! I have always been jealous of seeing other bloggers with the little chobani yogurts etc and now I finally have something similar! It’s the fruit on the bottom kind, but that doesn’t appeal to me/I really don’t care, because I mix it up anyways! I can not eat yogurt (normal or greek, doesn’t matter) without stirring it super well. Maybe I’m weird, but I hate when things separate.. it just looks so gross! Plus I wanted the fruit mixed in to help sweeten up the yogurt.

This little lady enjoyed it too..

She LOVES yogurt and ice cream for some reason, so when ever I have them she isn’t far away. Within seconds of opening it she came straight to the table to mooch from me. Crying Meowing and all.

Now I am currently folding a bazillion four loads of laundry, while attempting to do some Advanced Accounting homework for tomorrows class. After having last week off  of school and not having to do any homework for a week straight it is so hard to get back into the groove of it! I think I might have to make some chai tea to perk me up and get to work. Goodnight!

I Love Days Like Today

Hello!

Today was such a great day! I was finally able to do my taxes this morning, and afterwards I walked home. It was faster than waiting for the bus and it was so nice out I figured why not! I forgot how much I love going for walks in my neighborhood when the weather cooperates. It was so pretty and relaxing, definitely a great way to start my day.

This afternoon, Momma P and I decided to skating on the Canada Games Oval on the commons.

It was SO much fun! And boy, were my legs/bum sore after! I haven't skated in a little over a year so I was a little rusty at first but after a few minutes it was just 'like riding a bike'! They were playing music over a bunch of speakers, the sun was shining, and I was in a sweater! That's right! It was so nice that I actually took off my jacket and skated in my hoodie.

Another thing that made today great - I finally got my grad ring!  I never thought that I would want one but I love, love, love it!

Now I just have to pass everything! (I think I can manage that haha) Oh and it isn't nearly as bulky as it looks, it's just cause it is close up. It has B.Comm on one side and 11 for my grad year. Finally I am almost done, after 5 years!

Oh! I also got this lovely item today...

Hot huh? Its shower cap for when I do my coconut oil treatments (review and info post to come on it soon!) It's definitely a step up from the grocery bags/saran wrap I have been using! I'm not gonna lie, I totally love it. Branmuffin is going to laugh his bum of when he sees me in this!

P.S I added a recipe page! Soon to come - my signature brownie recipe!
P.P.S - I just found Presidents Choice has greek yogurt!! I am going straight to the store after work tomorrow to try it! I am really looking forward to trying this flavor.

The ABC's of Me!

I found this while reading some other blogs this morning and thought this would be a great idea for a post, esp. since I am so new at it. Give a little more insight into moi !

A. Age: 22, but almost 23... well in June.. the kid in me likes to round up to sound older.
B. Bed size: Double. I wish it was a queen cause there is barely enough room for Branmuffin and I.

C. Chore you dislike: Cleaning the bathroom!!! I actually made a deal with Branmuffin that if he will clean the bathroom after he moves in I will clean everything else. I hate, hate, hate it, its just so gross!

D. Dogs: I want one, so badly! Damn apartment living. I swear as soon as we get ourselves a house I want one of these:

A St. Bernard puppy! Oooh I could just squish him!

E. Essential start to your day: Coffee, and I usually check my email and Facebook etc pretty soon after waking up.
F. Favorite color: Pink! Purple is a pretty close second, and yellow too.
G. Gold or silver: Gold! I think it just suits me better.
H. Height: 5’1" ish aka super short !
I. Instruments you play(ed): None currently, but when I was in elementary and junior high I played piano briefly, violin, and trumpet in the school band. Yeah. That's right. I was the coolest
J. Job title: Student & Reservation Sales Agent. Both of these will be changing soon after Graduation! Hopefully haha
K. Kids: None for now, definitely in the future. For now I happy just hanging out with my super cool niece
Haha she doesn't stop talking or moving long enough to get a normal picture! Such a goof

L. Live: Nova Scotia!
M. Mom’s name: Momma P
N. Nicknames: Meags, Meggie, Meggie Meg Pie. Really most people just use Meaghan or Meags.
O. Overnight hospital stays: None! All of my hospital visits have been day visits. The last time I slept (or well barely slept) at a hospital was when V was born.
P. Pet peeve: Slow walkers, loud chewers, teeth scraping on forks... I could probably list a hundred more but those are the big ones!
Q. Quote from a movie: "I love that you get cold when it's 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it's not because I'm lonely, and it's not because it's New Year's Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible" - When Harry Met Sally. Ohh I could watch that over and over again. The random old couples throughout just make me so happy.
R. Righty or Lefty: Righty!
S. Siblings: Younger sisters - Erin, Reilly, and Keeva.

Me and Erin at Christmas :)

T. Time you wake up: Mon-Thurs (aka days I have early classes) 5:30am, rest of week more like 7 or 8.
U. Underwear: I wear it :)
V. Vegetables you don’t like: Turnip - Ick!
W. What makes you run late: Other drivers, like the bus driver or waiting for someone to pick  me up! I don't have a car yet so I am always on time for when I am supposed to be ready but I can't control Mr. Bus Driver unfort.
X. X-Rays you’ve had: Just dental ones I think.
Y. Yummy food you make: Brownies, cookies...really most baked goods! I am much better at baking than cooking, but I am trying to improve!
Z. Zoo animal favorite: Monkeys. But then again our zoo really isn't that exciting so it may change next time I go on a trip and go to a bigger one haha

Low-Key Saturday

Today started off great - had a deeeelish breakfast of Peanut Butter Cup Oats. They are nothing fancy, just some stove top oatmeal with a spoonful of PB swirled in and a sprinkling of choco. chips on top! So simple but soooo yummy!

After breakfast I quickly got ready (slept in, yet again!) and ran out to catch the bus to work. It was a pretty good day overall, not too busy which is nice but the day felt like it was dragging on. I finished reading my usual websites/blogs a few hours into my shift, so I had to resort to Facebook and Twitter. But of course those were only entertaining for a little while too, not too many updates cause everyone else seemed to be out enjoying their Saturday! Lucky buggers :P

I was kind of productive though  I did make a to-do list for when I got off work. I need to make them or else I get home and get into automatic lazy mode and forget pretty much everything I meant to do. Especially the little things like charging my iPod.

I already managed to cross off a few things! And some I am saving until tomorrow morning, like making my work lunch. Mostly because I really wanted to use some of the super yummy and easy peasy marinara sauce from Andrea at Can You Stay For Dinner

All the ingredients ready to go

It took next to no time at all, and from the taste tests I have done so far is amazing!

You can get the recipe here

Once the sauce was simmering it was finally time to relax.  Which equals watching a Full House marathon and painting my nails.

The shade is called Trust Fund Baby.  I love it! I can't figure out the settings on my camera/it's in kind of crappy lighting but its actually a little pinker than the picture shows.  Sooo pretty. I think it's my new favorite shade. Also, why is it that almost immediately after painting my nails I always have to pee!? Ah! So annoying haha.

It's getting late now, I was going to bake some muffins but that can wait until tomorrow. I need my beautysleep!

Almost there!

The countdown is on!

Graduation is only 93 days away, and I finish classes in just under two months (SMU is seriously slacking in posting the exam schedule so I can't make an official countdown yet).

I am super excited, and at the same time so nervous it makes my stomach turn! The thought of going for a real interview is terrifying! All the interviews I have had so far have been for customer service and have been hired practically on the spot. Not to mention I have only had like 3 or 4 interviews ever - I tend to stay at a job for a while.

And I also just recently found out that my convocation is at 9:30 AM!! I was going to make a hair appointment for that day but not anymore! No salon is open that early - bah humbug :(  Looks like I have to  start practicing making my hair all pretty, and soon. When it comes to doing much more than blow-drying and flat ironing I fail big time. And with all the pictures that will happen that day I want to look my best! I don't want anything fancy like an updo or whatever, just pretty hair. You know when you see pictures of celebrities and they have that really pretty wavy/almost but not quite curly hair thing going on, that. That is what I want. A step up from a basic everyday blowout.

A crazy early grad ceremony also means that I have to convince my dad to fly out a day earlier than planned. He is coming in from Sooke, BC and wouldn't get in until 7 or 8pm if I'm lucky. Add in a lovely case of jet lag and waking up early enough to be downtown for 8:30 in the morning will not be a fun event. Plus, flying in early would mean an extra day for visiting which is always a plus! Considering I see him once a year (other than skype) if I am lucky, any extra time would be great.

To change the topic completely - I went to the gym for the second time this week today! Granted it was only about 45 minutes of intervals on the treadmill but it is better than nothing! I had been majorly slacking in that department for the past few weeks and when I was just about to get back into it I went and got a chest infection. So I am super pumped I am on track for this week!

It's all about celebrating the little things in life :)

It's been awhile..

But I am back!

I was going to start fresh, maybe even a new blog and completely start from scratch, but I really like the name I picked and it took me forever to pick it out that I am not putting myself through that again!

I am changing how I am doing this though. This is completely for me. I am not going to force a schedule on myself to have a post every day, or even every other day. I am going to aim to get at least two new posts a week. This is something I do truly enjoy, but I know if I put that kind of pressure on myself I won't enjoy it or do it as much.

Also, I have to get over my irrational fear of people I know reading this. Sounds silly I know but somehow I am more ok with complete strangers reading this than I am my family and friends. So, I am actually going to link this to my Facebook profile, instead of keeping it on Twitter only (where I only truly "know" a handful of people).

I'm gonna have to leave at that for today, but I just had to get that off my chest and actually do it. I will have a much lighter/normal post soon.

For now I have to get back to studying for my "Media in Everyday Life" midterm. There is sooo much vocab and theories etc to memorize. I really hate when an elective you take for fun turns out to be more work than some of your required classes! Biggest pet peeve ever, well at least top 5.
